Project Hunger, Inc.

About the Organization

Project Hunger was started in 1990 in Hall County, Nebraska, by a group of concerned citizens wanting to address the persistent shortages of local food supplies at the Grand Island Community Food Pantry and also the famine which was continuing in African countries. In 1991, members were selected for a Board of Directors and started to diversify their efforts by scheduling various annual fundraising events, and conducting numerous area food drives. To date, more than $900,000 in actual funds and "in kind" services have been received for all purposes. All efforts within the organization are volunteered with no paid staff.
