Sisters for Social Justice: Grace and Edith Abbott
Benefiting Hall County Historical Society Inc.
Created by Michelle Setlik

Fundraiser Story
Grace and Edith Abbott, born in Grand Island, became national leaders in the field of social justice for their work with women, children, and immigrants. From Grand Island to Chicago’s Hull House to Washington DC they were pioneers in the new field of social work and left a remarkable legacy that still resonates today.
My goal is to raise $7,500 to place a new Nebraska State Historical Society marker at Grand Island to recognize their work and celebrate the legacy of these remarkable Grand Island women. I hope to have the funds secured to get the marker installed and dedicated in March 2026 for Women’s History Month.
