Merrick County Historical Museum, Inc.

A nonprofit organization

The mission of the Merrick County Historical Museum, Inc. is to tell the continuing story of the people of the Merrick County area.

Merrick County Historical Museum was officially incorporated as a non-profit in 1969. The museums roots began in the early 1930's with meetings to consider ways to preserve the stories, artifacts and information of Merrick County and its people. The Traver House has been home to the museum since the early 1970's. We continue to acquire family history items, artifacts, etc. So…we're bursting at the seams!!! We need one centralized, accessible (ADA and parking), climate-controlled, place to house, properly preserve and showcase both what has been, and will be given into our care. With the completion of this building project our programming possibilities will expand greatly. We have the land to build on. We have a good start to the building and endowment funds. Help us complete this building project to continue bringing the history of Merrick County and its people, past and present, to current and future generations.
