The Youth Philanthropy Board (YPB) is a hands-on leadership program that teaches high school juniors and seniors in Hall County the art, science, and impact of philanthropy. Through real grantmaking, fundraising, and community engagement, students learn how generosity shapes stronger, healthier communities.
Mission
To support organizations that provide innovative support to youth and encourage better choices.
Vision
A future where positive behaviors of teens are supported through mental health awareness, substance abuse prevention, safe and fun activities, and peer-to-peer education.
How the Program Works
A partnership between the Greater Grand Island Community Foundation and Leadership Unlimited, the program gives students a chance to experience every step of the philanthropic process — from identifying community needs and raising funds to reviewing grant applications and awarding dollars to local nonprofits serving youth.
Throughout the two years, students also explore leadership development, community impact, and the importance of giving back — preparing them to become caring, invested adults and future community leaders.
"Youth Philanthropy Board has helped me recognize the importance of philanthropy and allowed me to form relationships with other students and professionals in the Grand Island community. I am forever grateful for the opportunity to be a part of YPB."
