Voice for Companion Animals

Voice for Companion Animals (VCA) exists for the animals—and the families—who have nowhere else to turn.

We are a Nebraska-based nonprofit rescue dedicated to protecting and advocating for companion animals who are most at risk. Many of the animals who come to VCA are overlooked due to age, breed, medical needs, or behavioral challenges. These animals require more time, more patience, and more resources, and VCA is committed to meeting them where they are and giving them a real chance at a safe, stable future.

In addition to rescue and rehabilitation, VCA focuses on keeping pets and people together whenever possible. Through our AniMeals program and pet food pantry, we provide food and basic supplies to families facing temporary financial hardship, helping prevent surrender due to lack of resources. Our Happy Tails program supports pet owners during a veterinary emergency, ensuring pets can remain safe, cared for, and connected during this stressful time.

We are also proud to have launched our Spay/Neuter – GI program, aimed at reducing unwanted litters and future shelter intake by increasing access to spay and neuter services for those who want to do the right thing but lack the means. This proactive program addresses the root of pet overpopulation and helps create long-term, humane solutions for our community.

VCA operates with a team of dedicated volunteers, and an incredible network who provide individualized care, training, and stability. Some animals stay with us for months—or even years—while we work through medical or behavioral challenges and search for the right forever home. We believe success is not measured by speed, but by doing what is right for each animal.
