Grand Island Tennis Association

A nonprofit organization

The mission of the Grand Island Tennis Association (GITA) is to involve the community with the sport of tennis and other racket sports. The four court indoor Grand Island Tennis Center (GITC) courts provide indoor play for ages 5 to 95 that can only be found in several communities within Nebraska. Funds are needed for Junior Tennis Programs and maintenance of the facility on Bellwood drive. The facility is leased to GITA by the City of Grand Island with current 5-year lease commencing on March 25, 2025.

In addition to providing tennis activities for all ages, the Grand Island Tennis Association (GITA) maintains the current facility at 2204 Bellwood Drive in Grand Island. The GITA is responsible for all maintenance of the building and the 4 indoor playing surfaces. Recent projects have included roof repairs, the addition of gutters on the north side, and replacing court nets and net dividers as needed.

All court lighting was replaced in 2024.

The GITA was a primary driver of the construction of the 4 outdoor courts at Ryder Park and works with the Grand Island Parks Department in activities involving tennis courts at city parks.

Activities supported include kids' lessons, kids' tournaments, adult league play, adult tournaments, and open court availability.
Both Grand Island Senior High and Grand Island Central Catholic utilize our indoor courts for practice during boys & girls tennis seasons.

Pickleball has also found a home in the Tennis Center with league and event play occurring on a regular basis.
