Make-A-Wish Nebraska

A nonprofit organization

The mission of the Make-A-Wish Foundation is to create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. Together we provide hope, strength, and joy to these children and families.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation began in Phoenix, Arizona in 1980 with the story of a 7-year-old boy named Christopher Greicius and his inspiring wish to become a police officer. Since then, over 400,000 wishes have been granted to children battling life-threatening illnesses across the world, with 62 chapters across the United States and 36 international affiliates. The Nebraska chapter began in 1983 and has granted 3,200+ wishes to children across the state.

These wishes can be anything from exploring Hawaii, becoming transformed into a prince or princess on a trip to Walt Disney World, swinging away on a play structure in the backyard, or going on a shopping spree. Each wish is personalized to honor that heartfelt wish of the child. For the families we serve, it's a joyous moment where fantasy and laughter take over in the midst of a much darker time in the child's life and in the life of the family. Take a moment to look at the photos of children experiencing their wish come true, and imagine being a child and having this question with its endless possibilities posed to you.
