Grand Island Community Fireworks Display

A nonprofit organization

Our mission is to bring our community together each year to celebrate our nation’s independence and the rich history of Grand Island with a memorable fireworks display on July 4th. This event is free and open to everyone, made possible entirely through the generosity of community donations. It also honors the founding of Grand Island on July 4, 1857, celebrating not only our country’s freedom but the roots of our hometown.

Following Grand Island’s 150th city celebration, a group of community members came together with a shared vision: to restore a community-wide fireworks tradition that belongs to everyone. Rather than placing the responsibility on a single sponsor, this event is supported and organized by the community itself—neighbors working together to create a shared experience. We believe this fireworks show is a true quality-of-life event, meant to be inclusive, accessible, and enjoyed by all generations and backgrounds.

As the event continues to grow, we are excited to bring the fireworks to a new venue at the Stuhr Museum, adding a fresh and meaningful setting to this beloved tradition. An organized board and committee structure guide the planning and execution of the event, with volunteers and leaders from across the community contributing their time and talents. With continued community support through donations and volunteer involvement, this celebration can remain a lasting tradition for Grand Island and be enjoyed for years to come.
