We are bridging the gap between a pet owner who feels their only option is to relinquish their animal due to a temporary financial situation. Shelters and rescues continue to be overcrowded, so we offer another option. The option to keep the pet in the home, by providing food or necessary veterinary care. Many times, speaking with our organization brings about options that the pet owner did not know were available. We hope to continue to grow and provide more support in the Central Nebraska area.
Voice for Companion Animals was formed in 2012 to meet the needs of struggling families with pets in the Beatrice, Nebraska area. The Critter Cupboard was formed, which brought pet food, bedding, etc., to those families who needed assistance. Dog houses were also distributed to those dogs who were outside. In 2014, the organization was relocated to Grand Island, NE, where we continue to provide food for the pet food pantry at the Salvation Army. In 2015, we created the AniMeals program, in conjunction with the Grand Generation Center. This program provides pet food and supplies for those individuals on the Home Based Meal program. We have grown from approximately 18 families to over 60 in our delivery program. Our goal is to continue to grow and assist more pets and their families in need.
