The TCMRA has volunteered to be a part of the Nebraska State Fair, and the HO-scale modular layout has been on display for the last two years. In 2014 through 2019, the State Fair had over 1,000,000 visitors, and many came to see the sounds and operations of the model train display. The layout has provided you for all 'kids', both young and old. Your gift will allow us to not only continue to operate the model trains for all visitors, but also to improve and expand the layouts for the education and enjoyment of all in Central Nebraska.
TCMRA is an all volunteer non-profit organization with 26 members that built and operates educational model railroad layouts at the Burlington Station in Grand Island, NE. The HO-scale layout is housed in the old CB&Q baggage room to the North of the main building. The HO-scale layout represents the the CB&Q and UP railroads that pass through Grand Island in the 1940's to 1960's time era. The club also has an operating portable N-scale layout at the station for public viewing. In addition, the members built a HO-scale modular layout for the Nebraska State Fair in 2014, and has been on display both 2014 and 2015 State Fairs each and every day. The modular layout is versatile by design but currently has 300 feet of mainline railroad and can grow even larger. Our goal is to educate the public about railroads and transportation in a fun and enjoyable manner with model trains.
